What to do now

After you've spent the last two hours surfing through our sight, drooling over the stunning interiors, thinking how the lady in your life would just love to cook for you on a newly fitted gas hob and dreaming of sleeping on a new Rock n Roll bed covered in luxurious new fabrics, you're now wondering how to go about getting the luxury camper interior you long for.

At Calypso Campers, we are asked this on a daily basis, so here are a few lines of advice to help you before you contact us.

Firstly, we say involve your wife or partner. Despite what you tell us (or they tell you) they are interested, mainly because you are intending to spend a lot of her housekeeping or his hard earned  money on your vehicle, but also because you are going to be choosing colours for the units, flooring and upholstery, which ideally should coordinate and look good  together. Believe me, I've seen some choices made by men alone, and, no offence men, but if you want her to travel with you, let her help.

Hopefully, looking at some of the pictures on our site will have given you a lot of ideas for your own van. You can decide on the colour of boarding for the units. The fabric type and colour for the upholstery and the number and style of units you would like fitted into your van.

  • Make notes as you look at the website, this will assist you when you contact us.

  • The 'unit' page will give you an idea of the costs involved, but please remember that you may want some changes made to the exact design of the units for your camper, so the prices will vary slightly. Decide what you want to store and where you would like the doors to be.

  • Style and colours of the fabric for curtains will depend on the colour of the units. We have a range of fabrics and boards on the site, but we are constantly finding new styles and colours becoming available, or you may find some elsewhere.

  • Think about the electrics. Do you have or will you want electric hook-up? Where and how many sockets will you need? Do you want any lighting?

  • A new 3/4 rock n roll bed will allow for extra storage units to be fitted, whereas a full width bed will restrict that possibility.

  • A fitted top box gives added storage space without using valuable floor space.

  • You can save money by doing things yourself. If you're having a total refit, save by stripping the old out and bring us your empty van. Perhaps you'd like to make your own curtains or do the upholstery.

  • It doesn't matter if you're not an artist. If you are going to mail your ideas to us, include sketches of your ideas, it will assist us when we speak on the phone.

  • If you email us and you have a digital camera, you could send a couple of pictures of the interior of your van.

At Calypso Campers, we can advise you on all aspects of refurbishing your pride and joy. We will endeavour to do what you want. After looking through our site, please phone for an informal chat, or send an email with your ideas. Our aim is to help you.
